Coffee anyone? Kind of funny since Mike usually orders hot tea, but regardless of what’s in the cup, he enjoys connecting, learning about others, and discovering how MODUS and its family culture can support your goals and make a meaningful difference for your team.

Being at MODUS for over 30 years has been an amazing journey. We have an opportunity that most people don’t—to make people’s lives better and help them be at their best through the work we do. Whether it’s creating a better place to heal, learn, work, or simply spend the day, it’s rewarding to know our work can have a lasting impact.

Mike finds his work most fulfilling when clients feel heard, expectations are exceeded, and relationships grow along the way. He values asking thoughtful questions, listening closely, solving challenges together, and finding practical ways to make each client’s experience easier, more successful, and even a little more enjoyable.

Away from the office, Mike enjoys spending time on the farm, exercising with his YMCA buddies, staying involved in his community and church, and creating memory-makers with family.

Chris pairs deep engineering and project-delivery experience with a relationship-first approach. His broad connections across the industry—and his perspective as both a consultant and owner—help teams move complex projects forward with clarity and confidence.

Chris is a Partner based in MODUS’s Des Moines office. Since joining the firm in 2011 as an HVAC engineer, he has led as a project manager, director, and partner across work representing more than $1 billion in construction. His technical knowledge and project-delivery experience help owners and design teams navigate planning, system decisions, coordination, construction, and long-term facility needs.

The relationships Chris has built throughout the architecture, engineering, construction, development, and owner communities are central to his work. He listens closely, makes time for people, and brings the right voices together around a project. Clients and colleagues rely on him as a steady resource who leads by example, works through complexity, and keeps the team’s shared goals in view.

Chris graduated from Iowa State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He later studied in Uganda as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, earned a Master of Science in Renewable Energy, and volunteered with Teach For America while completing a Master of Education degree. Do you like apples? Chris does. Through his family’s operation of Deal’s Orchard and involvement in historic redevelopment projects in Jefferson, Iowa, he has experienced projects from an owner’s perspective—balancing investment, operations, phasing, long-term value, and the realities that continue after design is complete.

Trevor brings an engineer's appreciation for how plans become construction and how finished buildings serve clients.

Trevor grew up on a farm in rural Keokuk County, Iowa, and his first real job was farmhand. Despite a childhood of tractors, combines, and crops, Trevor originally aspired to be an architect because he enjoyed science and math in school.

During a junior high assignment about career aspirations, Trevor discovered that architecture and engineering, while often intertwined and even symbiotic, are not synonymous. He veered onto the engineering path.

At MODUS, Trevor loves it when a plan comes together: when design is complete, transformed into construction, and finished for clients to use and enjoy.

Josh is a Partner and anchor of the MODUS Des Moines team, leading firmwide electrical engineering with a focus on quality and compliance.

Read full profile

Raised in Bondurant, Iowa, Josh first considered engineering because he had an uncle in the business and a natural pull toward math and science — a path that started, fittingly, behind the produce counter of a local grocery store.

He joined MODUS in 2005 as an Electrical Engineer, cutting his teeth on machine electrical controls and design. He became a Director in the Des Moines office in 2010 and began his transition to Partner in 2019 — and today he's an anchor of the Des Moines team, leading the firm's electrical group and overseeing quality and compliance across all of MODUS's electrical work.

Josh still loves what drew him to this field in the first place: engineering that people can actually see and that holds up over time. He's just as energized by the people side of it — a good team, in the office and on the job site — and by staying close to the range of work that keeps things interesting, from hospital operating suites to stadiums to statehouses. Colleagues know him as someone who balances the demanding days with a little fun in the sun, and who shows up when someone's in a bind.
